Ahead of the crucial bypolls, BJP’s star campaigner and the party’s go-to man in the Northeast Himanta Biswa Sarma landed in Manipur on Tuesday. A confident NEDA Convenor was certain of a BJP clean sweep in the seats the party is contesting in the November 7 bypolls.
Addressing an election rally at Wangoi Assembly constituency in support of party candidate Oinam Lukhoi, Sarma reassured that Manipur’s territorial integrity is fully intact under BJP rule.
This assumes significance at a time when there is still a simmering demand for integration of Naga contiguous areas as part of ongoing peace talks.
Sarma went all out in highlighting the BJP-led coalition’s development pitch in the state since it came to power. As promised, blockades, he said were a thing of the past now.
Significantly, Sarma ridiculed ally NPP which has also fielded a candidate in Wangoi, terming the Conrad Sangma-led party as no match to the BJP.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to Twitter after the election campaign and urged the people to vote for BJP.
“Election campaign for BJP candidate for Wangoi AC Shri Oinam Lukhoi at Wangoi Bazaar, also attended by #NEDA Convenor @himantabiswa, BJP State president @STikendraBJP, MP @RanjanRajkuma11 and other leaders of @BJP4Manipur,” Biren Singh tweeted.
“Vote for @BJP4India for Stability, Peace and Development!,” the Chief Minister added.
