One of the prime accused in Sub-Inspector paper leak scam, BJP leader Diban Deka surrendered before Assam Police.

Assam Police launched search operations to capture Diban and were finally successful in nabbing him yesterday, while he was on his way to surrender.

Diban Deka who was on the run for the last 10 days surrendered before Patacharkuchi Police in Bajali district of Assam at around 11:45 PM and was later brought to 4th APBN in Kahilipara.

Meanwhile, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Diban Deka as its primary member.

It is to be mentioned that CID questioned Diban Deka on September 20 and after that he was on the run. A special police team headed by ADGP (Law and Order) GP Singh brought the accused from Patacharkuchi to Guwahati.

A team of CID and Crime Branch is currently interrogating him at a Special Branch lockup of Assam Police in Guwahati. Diban will be produced in the court today.

The mastermind of the scam, former DIG PK Dutta is still absconding.
