Assam govt to distribute land rights to 60,000 indigenous families

The Assam Government will distribute land rights (patta) to 60,000 indigenous Assamese families of the state on October 5. The decision was taken in a meeting of the revenue department chaired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday.

So far, the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government has provided land pattas to 46 thousand indigenous Assamese families. This will fulfill the promise made by Assam Government to provide land rights to one lakh families.

Moreover, in the coming budget session, the state will initiate process to provide land rights to additional one lakh indigenous Assamese families. This was announced by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during a review meeting of the revenue department held in Guwahati.

On 5 October, the land rights distribution ceremony will be organised in the districts that will be attended by ministers, MLAs and MPs.

It is to be mentioned that on 24 September CM Sonowal will officially inaugurate the Arundhati scheme that will provide Rs. 40,000 relief to the beneficiary.
