The total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur climbed to 970 on Wednesday with 49 more people testing positive for coronavirus.
All samples were confirmed positive at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory’s of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) 29 and 20 respectively.
The fresh cases include 24 males and 25 females. Among the new cases, 11 from Churachandpur and Ukhrul districts, 5 each from Kakching, Kamjong & Senapati districts, 3 from Imphal West, 2 each from Imphal East, Kangpokpi & Tamenglong districts and 1 each from Jiribam, Noney & Thoubal districts.
According to an official statement of the COVID-19 Control Room, “All the fresh cases are returnees from other states. They have been shifted to Covid Care Facilities.”
Meanwhile, 70 patients were discharged on Wednesday after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR tests.
The total number of those recovered in the state stands at 328 with 642 active cases.
