A private nursing home in Eastern Assam’s Golaghat district has emerged as a hotspot for COVID-19.

At first, two lab technicians had tested positive for the virus, following which 4 nurses have also been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Among the nurses who tested positive are Lisa Lama, Rumi Loying, Junu Rajkhowa and Purnima Saikia.

Furthermore, a mason working at the hospital has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

It may be mentioned that the lab technicians identified as Pranjal Bora and Rhituraj Bora had tested positive for the deadly virus on June 14. The duo was working in the nursing home even though they were under quarantine.

It is being suspected that the nurses might have contracted the virus through the biometric machine installed in the nursing home which was active till June 16.

Meanwhile, the district administration has declared the nursing home as a restricted zone.
