Three doctors and a health worker of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday.

“They were working in the screening area. Those working in the screening area should wear PPE kit, and follow protocols as their safety is our safety. I believe that they should be more careful. The doctors who have been tested positive were on duty a few days back. They were staying in hostel number 5, said Abhijit Sarma, Superintendent I/C, GMCH.

Sarma added, “Also people who came in contact with them, will have to go through a true net test and the result will be declared within 3 hours. If they are negative they can join back to duty and if they are positive they will be shifted to Covid hospital. 81 people have been tested so far”.

It is to be mentioned that a new molecular lab will be set up in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) today and Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the lab.
