Assam on Wednesday registered its sixth COVID-19 death after a Mumbai returnee who was tested positive after flying back to Guwahati succumbed to the virus at the Tezpur Medical College
Assam on Wednesday registered its sixth COVID-19 death after a Mumbai returnee who was tested positive after flying back to Guwahati succumbed to the virus at the Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH).
Kamal Krishna Pal (67) was co-morbid and died at TMCH today, officials said, adding that he was shifted to the hospital on May 31 after testing positive for COVID-19.
Pal, who was undergoing cancer treatment at Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Centre, had returned to Guwahati along with his wife on May 29.
After swab samples were taken for mandatory tests upon their arrival, both Pal and his wife were put under institutional quarantine at a hotel in Tezpur.
Pal is the second person to have died in Assam this week after a person named Arun Kakati who died at Bakaliaghat in Karbi Anglong district tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
