Tripura registered 31 more COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 898.

Confirming the news, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet said a total of 1,375 samples were tested for COVID19 in the state on Wednesday, out of which 31 were found positive for the virus.

The chief minister added that the fresh cases include 17 infected patients from West Tripura district, 8 cases are from Sepahijala district, 1 from Dhalai district, 2 from Unokoti district and 3 others from Gomti district.

“Out of 1375 samples tested for COVID19, 31 people found POSITIVE. All of them have travel history,” Deb tweeted.

 

Earlier in the day, 46 COVID-19 positive patients were released from the Bhagat Singh Covid Care Centre after their test results turned out negative.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man in Agartala succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, becoming the first fatality due to the disease in Tripura.

Biswa Kumar Debbarma, who hailed from a remote village in West Tripura district, was admitted to the GB Pant Hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest earlier in May.

His body was cremated as per the protocol set by the government.

On Tuesday, Tripura registered 26 more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total cases to 867.

Among the positive cases, 18 patients are from Sepahijala district, 6 from South Tripura district while 2 other positive cases were detected in Khowai district.
