Manipur’s COVID-19 tally at 124 with 16 new cases in 24 hours

Three more COVID-19 cases were reported from Manipur on Thursday. With this the total cases have gone up to 124, while active cases in the state are 86.

All three are returnees for Delhi, Mumbai and Pune respectively and have been shifted to JNIMS.

As many as 16 cases have been detected from the state in the last 24 hours.

Earlier, a frontline Covid worker along with 12 others tested positive for COVID-19, a 40-year-old nurse serving at the Churachandpur district hospital who has no travel history, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday night.

It is being suspected that the nurse might have contracted the novel Coronavirus during her contact with other Covid patients.

Talking to Northeast Live, Churachandpur Chief Medical Officer VC Pao said that the nurse has shown an indomitable spirit to fight back COVID -19. The Chief Medical Officer also hoped that the Corona warrior will recover from the disease at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that as many as 13 more people tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of positive cases to 121. Among those tested positive are 7 males and 6 females. While 5 of them are from Kangpokpi, 3 from Tengnoupal.

Apart from the nurse, others who tested positive had recently returned from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune.
