Assam Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is a man on a mission. Sarma today arrived in Dhubri district of Assam to review capacity building measures in the district to fight the pandemic.
Briefing newspersons, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Assam Government is highly concerned over the impact of West Bengal’s COVID-19 crisis in the bordering areas of Assam.
Sarma said that special arrangements have been made in Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts to deal with the situation once the inter-state borders are opened.
It may be mentioned that both Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts in Assam share borders with West Bengal, which has reported more that 500 COVID-19 positive cases so far.
The Assam health minister also reviewed preparedness in the district for random testing of samples in Dhubri district. A total of 150 samples will be taken for random testing in Dhubri from tomorrow.
Briefing newspersons, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the pattern of emergence of positive cases in the district is quite different from the other districts where COVID-19 cases have been reported.
Meanwhile, the health minister said that the stranded students from Assam who are returning from Kota in Rajasthan will have to follow strict guidelines after their entry into the State through Srirampur.
