Among those who tested positive are family members of the 69-year-old doctor from Bethany hospital in Shillong who was tested positive on Monday and subsequently lost the battle to the virus in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The detection of 6 new cases in Meghalaya was confirmed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in his official twitter handle. Sangma also informed that apart from 6 more samples which are being re-tested, rest have tested negative.

“Of the 68 tested so far, 6 have come out positive who are all family members & helpers of the first #Covid19 positive case. 6 other cases are being retested. All the rest of the cases are negative,” Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma tweeted.
