With over 130 cases in the last 16 hours the number of COVID-19 positive cases in India has risen to 1,965 on Thursday.
According to news agency ANI, the death toll India has climbed to 50.
“328 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths have been reported since Wednesday, thus taking the total number of confirmed cases to 1,965 and the number of deaths to 50 in the country,” informed Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the spike in the number of cases is due to the religious event at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
As per a latest report, as many as 400 COVID-19 positive cases are related to the Nizamuddin Markaz congregation in Delhi.
1,800 people related to the Tablighi Jamaat event have been sent to 9 hospitals and quarantine centres.
