Amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, the number of confirmed cases in India has surpassed the 800 mark, with 7 new deaths reported on Thursday, taking the total death toll to 20 in the country.
Maharashtra is the most affected state with 147 positive cases, followed by Kerala with 119 cases.
Andaman and Nicobar reported its first positive case yesterday. Along with that, Manipur, Mizoram and Puducherry also have one positive case each.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh registered its first death due to coronavirus when a 65-year-old woman from the major pilgrim town of Ujjain died on Wednesday afternoon.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan chaired a meeting to assess the situation in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. According to officials, the ministry of home affairs is actively monitoring the lockdown across the country.
