Attempts being made to derail peace: ABSU on BTR killing

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has condemned the killing of a businessman at Paneri in Udalguri district on Friday night by unidentified miscreants.

Talking to newspersons, newly elected ABSU president Dipen Boro suspected that deliberate attempts are being made to derail the peace process by a third force.

The ABSU president pointed out that use of firearms in the BTR after the signing of the Bodo Accord is a matter of grave concern.

The deceased has been identified as Khairul Haque (51), a Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) party worker. Khairul was a resident of Simaluguri village in Assam’s Udalguri district.

As per reports, the incident took place when Khairul was on his way to Bhutiachang chowk at around 06:00 PM.

The miscreants shot him from point-blank range and fled from the spot. Meanwhile, Paneri Police investigations are underway.
