A day after ULFA-Independent, Commander-in-Chief, Paresh Baruah indicated that the rebel group may come to the negotiating table, given the core issue of sovereignty remains the prime agenda for the talks.

Assam health and finance minister has once again sent out an open invitation to the ULFA-Independent to join the peace process. However, Sarma maintained that the process will not be an easy task while expressing hope that the ULFA-I will return to the mainstream.

Himanta Biswa Sarma added that the government is examining the statements made by ULFA-Independent chief Paresh Baruah. The state health and finance minister also mentioned that there was positivity in Barua’s statements.

In a significant statement, the BJP strongman also said that the Government of India will reach out to all the rebel groups in Manipur as well as the ULFA-Independent.

Sarma added that Government of India will reciprocate to the gesture made by armed rebel groups in Manipur and ULFA-I.
