Khelo India 2020: Assam weightlifters win Gold; Sikkim bags maiden medal

Suditya Boruah, from Assam clinched Gold medal in the 89 kg weightlifting event at the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 held in Guwahati on Monday.

Another lad for Assam, Golap Gogoi has also bagged Gold medal in the 81 kg category of weightlifting event.

The medal tally of hosts Assam stands at 15 Gold medals, followed by 14 silver medals and 16 bronze medals. In total, Assam now has 45 medals in its kitty in the Khelo India Youth Games so far and stands 7th in the standings of the mega sporting spectacle.

Meanwhile, Himalayan State Sikkim on Day 11 of the sporting event, opened its account for the first time at the 3rd edition of the Khelo India Youth Games.

Pemba Tsering Sherpa shone for the Himalayan State as he bagged the Bronze Medal in the (Under-21) 81 kg Weightlifting event.

Maharashtra meanwhile, continues its stamp of dominance in the Khelo India 2020 standings with a whopping 204 medals.

Haryana is 2nd in the standings with 138 medals while Delhi is 3rd in the standings with 102 medals.
