In response to ongoing protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Director of Higher Education of Assam has issued a notice to all government and provincialized colleges in the state asking them to ensure strict compliance of Assam Civil Service (conduct) Rules, 1965
The order has been issued stating that under Rule 7 of the Assam Civil Service (conduct) Rules, 1965, a government servant shall not make any statement of fact or opinion criticizing the government.
The order further states that if the government servant is found criticising the government, concerned person will be held responsible for violation of rules 3 and 7 of the Assam Civil Service Conduct Rules.
The order intimated all principles of government and provincialised colleges to ensure strict compliance of the rule.
