The Assam Public Works has filed an FIR with the Anti-Corruption branch of the CBI in Guwahati against former Assam state NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela.

The APW has alleged large scale corruption by Hajela and his close aides during the NRC exercise in Assam, and has demanded a high level probe into the alleged misappropriation of government funds.

It is not the first time that an FIR has been filed against Hajela post the completion of the NRC exercise.

Earlier, two FIRs were lodged against the then NRC coordinator for alleged discrepancies in the final NRC list.

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the transfer of Assam NRC coordinator Hajela to Madhya Pradesh.
