Bru protestors in North Tripura District who were staging an indefinite road blockade along the stretch between Kanchanpur and Anandabazar have decided to call of their blockade after intervention from Tripura Dy Chief minister Jishnu Debbarma.

The decision to withdraw the indefinite road blockade came after the state government announced to resume supply of ration starting tomorrow on humanitarian grounds.

This comes as a big breakthrough to the current stalemate which was increasingly turning political after intervention from former Tripura Pradesh Congress President and Royal Scion Pradyot Deb Barman who had threatened to move the Tripura High Court over the issue.

The Bru refugees from the 6 relief camps had been enforced the road blockade along the around 50 km stretch since October 31st demanding resumption in supply of ration and cash dole.

The breakthrough finally came after a ministerial team led by Jishnu Debbarma arrived at the protest site today and had discussion with the Bru leaders. Debbarma was accompanied with MPs from the state – Pratima Bhowmik & Rebati Kumar Tripura and minister Mewar Kumar Jamatia.
