Justice Arup Kumar Goswami of the Gauhati High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.

Goswami is currently the Acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and was proposed to be elevated by the Supreme Court Collegium on August 22.

The proposal was made in light of the impending retirement of present Chief Justice V.K. Bisht.
