Normal functioning of Manipur colleges has been affected for the third day today as college teachers stage sit-in demonstration in Imphal on Thursday demanding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission

Normal functioning of Manipur colleges has been affected for the third day today as college teachers stage sit-in demonstration in Imphal on Thursday demanding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission & UGC Regulations for Govt teachers in the State.

The Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association, Manipur has launched a series of agitations starting September 24 for fulfillment of their demands.

The agitations continue despite Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s assurance that their
demand for implementation of 7th Pay Commission would be addressed through discussion.

Biren Singh said that he will invite representatives of the college teachers to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, Manipur Education Minister Radheshyam will hold talks with the agitating teachers today.
