Almost seven years after signing of a tri-partite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre and the Government of Assam, former Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) rebels based in Assam’s Dima Hasao district are unhappy with recent developments.

The Halali Progressive Welfare society, an organisation of former DHD rebels has submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in support of their demands.

Addressing newspersons, Dilip Nunisa alleged that not a single point agreed upon by the Government of India and the Government of Assam while signing of the Memorandum of Understanding has been fulfilled.

In the memorandum the DHD have demanded for urgent arrangement and rehabilitation of it cadres. Nunisa also said that the former rebels are facing a tough time.

The DHD leader also pointed out that the government had agreed to withdraw cases against the ex-rebels which are yet to materialize.

While stating that the government has much more to do to address the demands of the DHD, Dilip Nunisa categorically maintained that the DHD is not a toothless tiger.

It may be mentioned that a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) was signed between the Centre, Government of Assam and the Dima Halam Daogah on October 8, 2012.
