The date for repatriation of over 4,400 Bru families lodged in relief camps in Tripura to Mizoram will be finalised on Friday in New Delhi.
The repatriation date will be finalised in a meeting of the Joint Monitoring group on the issue.
The meeting will be attended by officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Governments of Mizoram and Tripura and representatives of the Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum, the apex body of the inmates living in six relief camps in Tripura.
Notably, the Mizoram Government had proposed to commence the repatriation from the 10th of October.
This will be the ninth round of repatriation and the Mizoram Government has identified 4 thousand, 4 hundred 47 Bru families lodged in relief camps in Tripura.
Till date, only One thousand 6 hundred 81 such families have returned to Mizoram since 2010 and are being settled in Mamit, Kolasib and Lunglei districts.
