Party leaders, workers pay last respects to Sushma Swaraj at BJP Headquarters

Rich tributes were paid to former External Affairs Minister and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj who passed away at AIIMS on Tuesday night.

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to BJP veteran LK Advani all paid emotional tributes to India’s most loved Foreign Minister in recent times.

Leaders cutting across party lines descended on Swaraj’s Delhi residence to offer their last respects to the tall leader.

Later the body was taken to the BJP headquarters where party workers in large numbers paid tributes to Swaraj. The last rites will be conducted at the Lodhi crematorium.

The Former EAM Sushma Swaraj passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after suffering a massive heart attack. She was 67.

According to reports, the senior BJP leader was brought to AIIMS at 10:15 pm after she suffered a massive cardiac arrest in the evening.

It is reported that she was very critical when she was admitted to the hospital. However, despite best efforts of doctors to revive her, she breathed her last.

Hours prior to her death, Swaraj had put out a tweet in the evening congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Jammu and Kashmir and the bifurcation of the border state. In her tweet, she had stated – “Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime.”
