Finance Minister Arun Jaitely on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he would like to stay away from any responsibility in the Modi government’s second term in office, citing health reasons for his decision.

In the letter, Jaitley said he had orally informed Modi about his desire not to be a part of the new BJP government to enable him to concentrate on treatment and health.

Jaitley said it had been an honour and a learning experience to be part of the Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government.
