In a major jolt to the Congress in Manipur, 12 congress MLA’s resigned from their respective posts in the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
The 12 MLA’S who quit their MPCC posts are are Govindas Khonthoujam, K Ranjit Singh, N. Loken Singh, Md Nasir, DD Thaisii, Kh Joykisan, Fajur Rahim, RK Imo Singh, K Meghachandra Singh, Chaltolian Amo, Alfred K Athur and D. Korungthang.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live Congress MLA K Joykisan made it clear that the legislators have not quit the party but have merely stepped down from their positions in the MPCC to concentrate on the grassroots level so as to strengthen the Congress at the base.
He also said the Congress will fight tooth and nail against any move to re introduce the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
