The 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament begins on Monday at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati. As many as 200 players from 16 countries will participate in the tournament. The preliminaries
The 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament begins on Monday at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati.
As many as 200 players from 16 countries will participate in the tournament. The preliminaries will be held today and tomorrow followed by the quarter-finals and semi-finals, culminating into the grand finale on May 24.
The competition will be held in a total of 18 categories. 10 among men and 8 among women, where India has fielded a strong contingent of 38 men and 37 women including Mary Kom in 51-kg category.
Six pugilists from Assam would represent the country in front of the home crowd. The gold medalist will receive a prize money of 2500 US dollar, while silver medalist will take home 1000 US dollar.
