Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday filed his nomination from the Wayanad parliamentary constituency in Kerala.

Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister and AICC in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra submitted the papers before the District Collector A R Ajayakumar at the district headquarters in Kalpetta.

Earlier in the morning, Gandhi landed in Wayanad by chopper to file documents to contest a second constituency for the first time ever. He was greeted by a large number of Congress supporters.

Meanwhile, Gandhi’s opponent in Amethi, Smriti Irani launched a scathing attack on the Congress president alleging him of insulting the people of Amethi.

The BJP also attacked Gandhi saying that he chose to contest from Wayanad as he was unsure of his prospects in Amethi.
