The Meghalaya Government has ordered a magisterial probe into the lynching of two people in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya on February 15.

Two persons, Mokibul Akond and Mikseng Marak of Chibinang and Williamnagar respectively were lynched by an angry mob of hundreds over suspicion of being dacoits. Another victim Bitha Rabha suffered severe injuries.

Following the incident, MLA of Phulbari constituency SG Estamur Mominin along with four other MLAs of Garo Hills took up the matter with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Home Minister James Sangma.

Talking to newsmen, Mominin informed that the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills has instituted a magisterial enquiry into this case.

He also informed that two FIRs have been registered and the matter is under investigation.
