Assam’s well known publisher and social activist GL Agarwala breathed his last on Thursday.

The head of the GL Publications and the Aamaar Asom media group died today at about 4:23 pm after prolonged illness. Agarwala had been bed ridden for almost a month.

Agarwala was the man behind several of the region’s leading news publications such as Aamaar Asom, Purvanchal Prahari, The Northeast Times and the Meghalaya Guardian among others.

He had also been closely associated with the Asom Sahitya Sabha during his lifetime. Agarwala was also a well known philanthropist and was involved in a lot of social work in the region.
