Assam: Power Tariff to Go Down: The tariff cut aligns with State Budget announcement made by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog earlier this year.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a reduction in power tariffs across various consumer categories, effective from April 1 this year.
Domestic and Jeevan Dhara consumers will see a reduction of Re 1 per unit, while agricultural, industrial, and commercial consumers will benefit from a 25-paise cut per unit. The revised rates will be reflected in electricity bills from May 2025.
Sharing the update via social media, CM Sarma emphasised that the reduction would bring much-needed relief, especially to the poor and middle-class households. A total of 68 lakh consumers are expected to benefit from this move.
The tariff cut aligns with the State Budget announcement made by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog earlier this year. Sarma highlighted that this decision marks the government’s commitment to fulfilling its budgetary promises.
The announcement has been widely welcomed, offering financial relief to consumers across Assam.
