The shocking behavior by AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has caused a sensation throughout Assam with criticism pouring in from all sides.
Protests have erupted all over the state, journalists at Guwahati held a protest meet at the Dispur Press Club under the banner of United Television Media Association.
Protests were also held at Morigaon against the shocking behaviour by Badruddin Ajmal. Protestors from the local organisation titled ‘Sahay’ burnt an effigy of Ajmal in Morigaon town over the matter.
Earlier, AIUDF MP and party president Badruddin Ajmal has shocked everyone by openly abusing and threatening a journalist during a news conference at Mankachar.
Ajmal, a perfume baron, took umbrage when a reporter asked him whether he will side with the Congress or BJP depending upon which party is in power at the Centre.
The AIUDF chief not only abused the journalist using unparliamentary language but even snatched away the mike and threatened to beat him up. The reporter represents a news portal from outside the region.
Going a step further, Ajmal in a clear threat said he has thousands of followers and that if the journalist continued pestering him then anything could happen.
Ajmal’s behaviour has come as a surprise to both the political and journalistic communities as politicians in Assam are not known to behave in this manner in public. The journalist have filed an FIR against the AIUDF chief.

Meanwhile, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has tendered an apology for his behavior through social media.
Ajmal tweeted calling the media the fourth pillar of democracy and apologised for his sudden outburst against the journalist.
