The rescue operation carried out by NDRF team was called off at 5 pm due to diminishing visibility.

According to official sources, more water needs to be pumped out of the coal mine before any efforts can be made to rescue the coal miners.

Altogether 65 NDRF personnel and 12 SDRF personnel were involved in the rescue operations throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the mine owner identified as James Sukhlain of Lumthari village and the supervisor are on the run.
