Devajit Saikia, former president of the Assam Cricket Association and Advocate General of Assam, has been elected as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the Special General Meeting held in Mumbai.
In a historic moment for Assam, Saikia assumes the role previously held by Jay Shah, who stepped down to take over as Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on December 1. Saikia was the sole candidate for the position, making his appointment unanimous.
