19-Year-Old Labourer From Assam Killed in Landslide at Aizawl Construction Site

The tragedy struck as two workers were digging to install a house pillar for Dovela’s residence when a sudden landslide buried them.

A fatal accident occurred this afternoon at a construction site on Minerco Road in Aizawl’s Zonuam locality, claiming the life of a 19-year-old labourer. The tragedy struck as two workers were digging to install a house pillar for Dovela’s residence when a sudden landslide buried them under a pile of debris.

The deceased has been identified as Akash, a resident of Rampur town in Assam. His body is yet to be retrieved despite the relentless efforts of local volunteers, who are racing against time to recover it. The other worker survived the incident but suffered injuries.

According to sources, the site is highly prone to landslides, with the soil primarily composed of loose excavated material from other construction activities. The tragic event has raised concerns about safety measures at construction sites in the area, particularly given the unstable nature of the terrain.
