Assam Government Announces Rs 11.96 Lakh Compensation to Families Affected by Kharghuli Incident

A detailed list of the families receiving help has been prepared, and the funds will be distributed to them quickly.

The Assam government has announced financial help for families injured by an unfortunate incident of water pipeline burst in Kharghuli under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-assisted Guwahati Water Supply Project (GWSP) on January 2. A total of Rs 11,96,500 will be given to 23 families whose homes were damaged.

This money will be disbursed based on rules from the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board Act, 2009, which ensures support for people affected by such incidents.

A detailed list of the families receiving help has been prepared, and the funds will be distributed to them quickly.

Additionally, the government has assured to put measures in place to prevent similar incidents in the future and keep all residents safe. This support also follows an earlier payment of Rs. 1,20,000 that was given to four families whose homes were seriously damaged on the same day.
