Minor Girl Kidnapped, Gang-Raped in South Tripura, 5 Arrested

Earlier on December 8, a minor girl was gang raped by two youths in Unakoti district of Tripura.

Yet, another case of a gang-rape of a minor girl has been reported from Tripura in just a week.
This time, a minor girl in South Tripura district was kidnapped by 5 youths and then gang raped on December 14.
As per inputs the victim was abducted from her home and taken to a rubber plantation in the Mahondaira area of Paikhola where the 5 accused allegedly gang-raped her throughout the night.
The next morning, the minor returned home and informed her mother about the incident.
Later, her family lodged a complaint at the Santir Bazaar Police Station.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation, medically examined the victim, and recorded witness statements.
Based on the victim’s mother’s identification, 5 suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, said Inspector Asutosh Sarma, officer-in-charge of Santir Bazaar Police Station.
The arrested accused have been identified as Shaktirai Reang (18), Nibas Tripura (19), Subhash Reang (19), Lakshidhan Tripura (18), and Jiban Tripura (21).
They were produced before the Bilonia District and Sessions Court on Sunday. The case has been assigned to OC Jayanta Das of Manpathar Outpost.
A case has been registered under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, dealing with aggravated sexual assault against minors, and relevant sections of the BNS 2023 law, indicating serious offences connected to the crime.
Earlier on December 8, a minor girl was gang raped by two youths in the Irani Police Station area of Kailashahar under Unakoti district of Tripura.
Acting swiftly, police arrested the duo in connection with the case. The arrested individuals have been identified as–Faruk Uddin (35) and Manik Miah (25), both residents of Samrurpara Gram Panchayat.
