Manipur CM Terms Killing of 2 Bihar Siblings in State as Act of Terrorism, Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex Gratia, NIA Probe If Needed

CM N Biren Singh assured that every possible effort is underway to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condemned the brutal killing of two brothers who were from Bihar in Kakching district on Saturday and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to each of the deceased’s families.
The victims, identified as Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dasharat Kumar (17), were migrant workers from Rajwahi village in Bihar’s Gopalganj district.
Taking to X, the Chief Minister labelled the act as terrorism and a direct assault on the values of the state and mentioned the “possibility” of the act being a “larger conspiracy to destabilise the state.”
“I strongly condemn the brutal killing of young brothers, Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dasharat Kumar (17), from Bihar in Kakching district, Manipur. This act of terrorism is a direct assault on our values, and my deepest condolences go out to their grieving families. In this crucial juncture, we cannot ignore the possibility that this horrific crime is part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize our state and push it further towards chaos. We must stand together against these destructive forces and ensure that they do not succeed in creating fear and insecurity,” CM N Biren Singh tweeted.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to each bereaved family and assured that every possible effort is underway to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible.
“An ex gratia of ₹10 lakh will be provided to each bereaved family, and every possible effort is underway to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible,” he said.
Further, the Chief Minister said that if needed the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to ensure a thorough and fair investigation.

The incident, which took place on Saturday, has shocked the state, prompting swift action from the government.
The investigation into the killings is underway, with authorities leaving no stone unturned to track down those behind the attack.
