Mayai Lambi is an important state highway that connects several towns and districts and serves as a link to the Trans-Asian Highway
Frustrated by the prolonged lack of progress in road construction, residents along the Manipur’s Mayai Lambi State Highway took matters into their own hands today, digging up sections of the highway.
Despite repeated appeals to authorities, the road has remained in poor condition for an extended period, with no significant development.
Mayai Lambi is an important state highway that connects several towns and districts and serves as a link to the Trans-Asian Highway. However, it remains a two-lane road, inadequate for handling the growing traffic volume. This has led to frequent accidents caused by the road’s limited capacity and lack of necessary expansion.
Imphal West District Police were seen attempting to clear the blockade, but the protesters pushed them back in their frustration.
Later Imphal West District Police apprehended few members of the women who were conducting the Banned along the State Highway.
