Just a day after the ruling BJP in Assam launched its first major offensive against ally AGP over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill saying that the AGP has no moral right to oppose the Bill.

Senior Congress leader and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi added a new twist to the ongoing friction in the BJP-AGP alliance in Assam.

The senior Congress leader, adding fuel to the possible rift between the BJP-AGP alliance in the state, said that the AGP should quit the alliance with BJP. Moreover, he said that he has no issues in seeing a Congress-AGP alliance in the state.

The statement by the former Assam Chief Minister comes in the wake of the stormy scenario in the alliance between the AGP and their coalition partner the BJP.

Meanwhile, top AGP leaders are holding a meeting to possibly decide the coalition’s fate.

This move comes in after top BJP leader and state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s open attack against the AGP over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
