Governor La Ganesan highlighted that drug abuse is not only a personal issue but a societal challenge that impacts communities, families, children, and the economy.
Nagaland Governor La Ganesan has called for immediate and comprehensive efforts to address the root causes of drug abuse, which is increasingly leading the state’s youth down a destructive path.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Brahma Kumaris’ Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Awareness Campaign at Raj Bhavan in Kohima, the Governor highlighted that understanding the underlying causes of addiction is key to providing effective support and healthier alternatives for the youth.
Governor La Ganesan highlighted that drug abuse is not only a personal issue but a societal challenge that impacts communities, families, children, and the economy at large. He pointed out that it undermines the very fabric of society.
He said that health is more valuable than wealth.
“If wealth is lost, nothing is lost, but if health is lost, something is lost,” he said.
Acknowledging Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage and the resilience of its people, the Governor affirmed that the youth of Nagaland possess immense potential to contribute to the state’s and the nation’s development. To unlock this potential, he urged the need to equip them with the tools to resist the temptations of substance abuse.
Congratulating the Brahma Kumaris for their ongoing efforts to build character and inspire positive change, Governor La Ganesan called for a collaborative effort among government agencies, civil society, and the public to make the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign a success.
The Governor further urged everyone to work together to create a future where every individual in Nagaland can live a life free from the shadows of addiction.
