Robbers Loot Rs 4.8 Lakh from Customer’s Account By Forging Signature at Axis Bank Branch in Guwahati

The incident came to light when the account holder identified as Rituparna Kalita, received a notification on his phone about an unauthorized withdrawal.
In a daring act of fraud, robbers looted Rs 4.8 lakh from a customer’s account at the Rajgarh branch of Axis Bank in Guwahati by forging the customer’s signature today.
The incident came to light when an account holder identified as Rituparna Kalita, received a notification on his phone about an unauthorized withdrawal.
Kalita immediately contacted the bank, prompting an investigation.
Upon investigation, it was found that the robbers had managed to bypass security protocols by forging Kalita’s signature, which went unnoticed by the bank’s staff during the transaction allowing the robbers to withdraw the large sum from Kalita’s account.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the adequacy of security measures at the bank, especially in verifying customer identities during high-value transactions.
