Heavy overnight firing and a total shutdown in hill areas has once again brought the situation on the boil in Manipur, a day after 10 Hmar village volunteers were killed in a shootout with security forces in Jiribam district. The situation is highly tense in Manipur after an escalation in firing incidents post the Jiribam incident. As per inputs, a large-scale attack was carried out by armed miscreants from the Kangpokpi Hills, targeting the villages of Kangchup, Koutruk, and Phayeng in Imphal West. The attackers used a variety of weapons, including locally made unguided projectiles and sophisticated rifles, claimed sources. As per inputs 2 Manipur Police personnel sustained injuries during the attack in Kangchup.
