Fuel Crisis in Tripura: Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Visits Fuel Stations, Assures Relief Soon

The shortage, which has led to long queues at petrol pumps, stems from recent disruptions to the railway tracks in Assam.
In response to the ongoing petrol rationing across Tripura, the state’s Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, accompanied by senior officials from the department, visited multiple fuel stations in Agartala on Sunday. The visits are part of the state government’s effort to oversee fair distribution of fuel and curb any attempts at black marketing amidst the ongoing shortage.
The shortage, which has led to long queues at petrol pumps, stems from recent disruptions to the railway tracks in Assam, significantly affecting Tripura’s fuel supply chain. During his inspection, Minister Chowdhury, who also heads the Transport Department, interacted directly with consumers waiting in lines and reassured them that relief is on the way.
“This inconvenience will continue for the next three days, but we are doing everything possible to reduce the burden on consumers,” Chowdhury said. He emphasized that while the supply disruption is beyond the state’s control, the government is working hard to mitigate its impact on the public.
To address the issue, Minister Chowdhury said that discussions have been initiated with the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railways. The state expects a resumption of regular fuel supply by November 14, bringing much-needed relief to residents. Chowdhury also assured that officials will keep a close watch on the situation to prevent any undue harassment of consumers at fuel stations.
The minister’s visit and his assurances have provided some comfort to citizens, who are hopeful that normalcy will soon return to the fuel supply in Tripura.
