Manipur Police Rescues Three Individuals Including Railway Driver Abducted by KYKL (SOREPA) Group

In a significant development, the Manipur Police successfully rescued three individuals who had been abducted by members of the banned KYKL (SOREPA) group.
Among the rescued was a 23-year-old railway driver, Joshua Kamei from Kambiron Puiluan Village in Noney district, along with two drug users arrested on November 5.
It needs to be mentioned that, Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM) has issued a strong condemnation against the kidnapping and brutal assault of the young railway driver from Noney District.
The Rongmei organization denounced the incident as a grave violation of human rights, describing it as an assault on the dignity and security of the Naga community.
RNSOM in a press release said that the incident occurred on November 5, at approximately 12 pm, when Joshua Kamei was reportedly abducted near the Kheikhu Kabui Khul Gate in Imphal East.
According to RNSOM, Joshua Kamei was subsequently taken to the militants’ camp, where he was subjected to severe torture and aggressive interrogation. RNSOM outlined a list of demands in response to the incident, urging authorities to take immediate and decisive action.
The police action came after intelligence led to a raid at a hideout in Urup Mayai Leikai, Imphal East.
During the operation, four members of the KYKL (SOREPA) were arrested.
The individuals have been identified as Hijam Nikhil Singh, Hijam Thanglen Meitei, Th Ningthem Singh, and Govin Elangbam. Incriminating evidence was seized, including a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a .303 rifle, and other weapons.
The rescued individuals are now in the custody of authorities for further investigation.
