In the midst of all the Diwali festivities, a devastating fire broke out in Guwahati’s Kahilipara area on Tuesday night.
About 11 houses were gutted in the area’s Sweeper Colony in the blazing inferno. Several two wheeler and four wheeler vehicles were also gutted in the fire.
It is initially being suspected that the fire broke out from a fire cracker but then suspicion fell on the bursting of a gas cylinder.
Fire tenders arrived at the spot and managed to douse it after battling out the flames for over an hour.
Several people were reportedly injured and were admitted in the GMC Hospital. The exact number of people injured is still not clear. However, there were no reports of casualties.
