Naga People’s Organisation’s 24-Hour Lightning Senapati Shutdown Began From 4 PM Today

The Naga People’s Organization has enforced a 24-hour lightning shutdown in Senapati District starting from 4 PM today, in connection to the physical assault and robbery of two Senapati youths in Thoubal.
NPO stated, that with no response from responsible CSOs representing the involved community to mediate or redress the issue, the Organization has started a lightning 24-hour shutdown starting from 4 pm today followed by Restriction of All Commercial Vehicular Traffic beyond Senapati District Headquarters.
Addressing the media, H. Kuba Peter, NPO President, stated that despite the gravity of the incident, there has been no attempt by the responsible Civil Society Organization representing the involved community to mediate or address the issue. The President mentioned that the victims are well aware of the parties involved, however, the culprits are attempting to feign innocence.
NPO further warned that they may intensify their stance with further measures if deemed necessary.
Earlier yesterday, Manipur Police had arrested a KCP cadre for having been involved in the assault and looting. The incident in question took place on Thursday when two youths from Senapati were assaulted and robbed in Thoubal. Frontal organisation from the district had strongly condemned the incident and demanded stern actions against the perpetrators.
