Missing Minor Girl from Manipur Rescued in Navi Mumbai

The accused will be produced before a court in Mumbai today and the Manipur police will seek transit remand.
A missing minor girl from Manipur was rescued from Jasai in Navi Mumbai yesterday. A team of Manipur Police along with Mumbai Police, rescued the girl who was reported missing since October 24.
A man from Assam identified as Abdul Mannaf Choudhury pretended to be a Manipuri man and lured the girl, promising that he will marry her.
The case came to light when the father of the victim filed a complaint to the Thoubal Women Police Station on October 26, reporting that his daughter was missing. Following this, a search operation was initiated under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jogesh Chandra Haobijam.
The police tracked her mobile phone signal and traced her in Navi Mumbai. The minor girl was flown to Mumbai on October 24 by the accused.
Police arrested the accused, 25-year-old Abdul Mannaf Choudhury who was using the Manipuri name – Laishram Sanathoi Singh. He originally hails from Jirighat Bagicha Part-I in Assam.
The accused will be produced before a court in Mumbai today and the Manipur police will seek transit remand to bring the accused to Imphal.
The search and rescue operation was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Yairipok Gourav Dogra.
