The order further clarifies that any possession or sale of crackers without a valid license under the Explosives Rules, 2008, is illegal.

In response to heightened security concerns and the volatile law and order situation in Manipur, the District Magistrate of Tamenglong, has issued an immediate ban on the sale and use of firecrackers throughout the district during the upcoming Diwali festival.

The order, based on a proposal submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Tamenglong, highlights the risks posed by fireworks in areas notified as “Disturbed” under state law. Authorities worry that firecrackers could be misused to create confusion or panic, potentially diverting security forces and endangering lives and property.

With Diwali celebrations set to begin on October 31, the Magistrate’s order underscores that enforcing a cracker ban could help maintain public order and protect residents. Given the urgency, the order will apply immediately without prior notice to potential violators.

The order further clarifies that any possession or sale of crackers without a valid license under the Explosives Rules, 2008, is illegal. No temporary licenses for firecracker sales have been issued this Diwali season, and the Superintendent of Police has been instructed to enforce the ban strictly.
