The 24-hour Assam shutdown called to protest the killing of 5 people in the state’s Tinsukia district is getting mixed reactions in different parts of the state.

The shutdown which began at 5 am today failed to make any real impact in Eastern Assam.

However, reports of bandh enforcers taking to the streets have come in from some parts of the state.

The state government meanwhile, has given strict directions to all government establishments and other outlets to remain open.

Meanwhile, some protesters supporting the Assam Bandh tried to block the National Highway No 37 this morning at Kaliabor town in Nagaon district.

However, local people along with the police managed to disperse the protesters from the spot clearing the highway soon.
